Centennial softball team beats Maple Grove in extra innings to earn bid to state

The Centennial softball team came from behind to beat Maple Grove 4-3 in 8-innings in the Class 4A Section 5 final at Centennial High School on Thursday afternoon.
With the game tied at three in the eighth inning, senior Abby Lohse put the ball in play and Bryn Ruberg scored on a throwing error that gave the Cougars the win.

Centennial (21-1) advances to the state tournament for the first time since 2018.
Helene Krage gets the win for Centennial. She struck out eight batters. Krage also had two hits for the Cougars, including a solo home run in the second inning.
Isabella Daniels pitched a complete game for the Maple Grove, striking out five. She also drove in a pair of runs with a fifth-inning single.
