No. 1 seed St. Anthony Village softball routs Columbia Heights

The No. 1 seeded (Section 4AAA) St. Anthony Village Huskies defeated the Columbia Heights Hylanders 17-0 in four innings on Tuesday evening at St. Anthony Village High School.

St. Anthony started their scoring in the bottom half of the first inning when Anna McCleary hit an RBI single to make it 1-0 Huskies.

In the bottom of the second, the Huskies scored on two wild pitches to make it 3-0. St. Anthony pitcher Kenzie Weber then hit a three-run home run to make it 6-0. Annie Welch followed up with an RBI double to make it 7-0. The Huskies then scored on another wild pitch to make 8-0 at the end of two innings.

In the bottom of the third inning, Lydia Marsolais started things off with an RBI single to make it 9-0 Huskies. Alex Korba added an RBI double to make it 10-0. Welch hit another double, this time scoring runners to make it 12-0. Rachel Carter added a 2-RBI single to make it 14-0. The Huskies then scored when Annie Bauman reached base on a strikeout, allowing a runner to score, making it 15-0 Huskies. Then, another wild pitch scored a run to make it 16-0. Finally, Anaya Boseman had an RBI single to make it 17-0.

Weber finished the day with three innings pitched and four strikeouts. Stella Klemele came in to pitch the fourth inning and struck out the side to end the game. The Huskies will play the winner of Totino-Grace and St. Paul Como Park.
