Natural gas leak reported in north Minneapolis, surrounding buildings evacuated
Fire crews were at the scene of a reported natural gas leak in the Willard-Hay neighborhood of Minneapolis.
According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, firefighters responded to the intersection of Plymouth and Russell avenues on a report of the gas leak.
All buildings in the immediate area were evacuated, according to the department.
Meanwhile, a CenterPoint Energy spokesperson said the damage was caused by a third-party contractor not affiliated with the utilities company and that as a safety precaution, an evacuation of one block from Plymouth Avenue to 12th Avenue and over to Russell Avenue.
