Legal battle over pipeline heads back to Minnesota Court of Appeals

The legal battle over the Enbridge Energy Line 3 replacement project heads back to the Minnesota Court of Appeals Thursday.

Opponents are appealing the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s decision to issue water and wetland permits for the controversial project.

Meanwhile, activists plan to continue rallying against the line Thursday, this time taking their demands to stop the project to the Minneapolis office of Sen. Amy Klobuchar.

More than 200 protesters were arrested Wednesday when they took over a pump station in Hubbard County.

Officials said protesters put up barricades, chained themselves to fences and damaged equipment.

The appeals court is scheduled to hear more oral arguments over the line’s approval at 10 a.m.
