1 dead from single-vehicle crash in Dunn County
A 24-year-old man died early Sunday from a single-vehicle crash in Dunn County.
According to the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and Menomonie Fire Department, at 2:48 a.m., officials responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on County Highway BB just north of U.S Highway 12 in Menomonie township.
Upon arrival, deputies located a lone unresponsive man in a 2008 Chevrolet Envoy SUV in the field north of County Highway BB.
The preliminary investigation indicates the SUV was northbound on 390th Street and failed to stop for the stop sign at U.S Highway 12. The vehicle crossed U.S Highway 12 onto County Highway BB and a short time later left the roadway, striking a large tree, said deputies.
The vehicle sustained severe front end damage from impacting the tree and later came to rest in a cut cornfield.
The Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and pronounced the 24-year-old man who was also the driver, from Elk Mound, dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office.
