Amusement companies, bar owners sue Gov. Walz over restrictions on indoor dining, use of bar games

Monday, a group of amusement companies sued Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz over COVID-19 restrictions regarding indoor dining and the use bar games, according to court records.

The lawsuit is seeking an injunction for the restrictions put in place by the governor.

The lawsuit claims the state treats bars, restaurants and entertainment venues differently than retail businesses. Specifically, the lawsuit says that Minnesota Department of Health Contract tracers ask people testing positive for COVID-19 if they’ve been to a bar or restaurant, but not a retail establishment.

Current restrictions in place do not allow indoor dining. Minnesota restaurants and bars are able to offer outdoor dining under the restrictions.
