2 Canadians charged for illegally possessing guns after traffic stop near Fergus Falls

Two Canadian citizens have been charged with illegally possessing firearms after being stopped near Fergus Falls.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 29-year-old Dayne Adrian Sitladeen and 29-year-old Muzamil Aden Addow are each charged with one count of unlawful resident in possession of firearms.

A criminal complaint states a Minnesota State Trooper conducted a traffic stop on the Chevrolet Silverado they were in after they were traveling between 95 and 100 mph at about 10:10 p.m. on Sunday. When the trooper approached, Addow provided a Canadian driver’s license with a false name and Sitladeen provided a false Florida identification card.

The complaint states the trooper searched the truck after smelling marijuana and receiving suspicious statements from Addow and Sitladeen. Inside, the trooper found 67 firearms and several pistol magazines in four bags. Authorities also later found a provisional federal arrest warrant for first-degree homicide, fentanyl distribution and possession of proceeds of crime. The complaint notes Addow also has outstanding warrants in Canada for firearms offenses and kidnapping.
