Minnesota sports teams to offer vaccinations at home games

Minnesota’s professional sports teams are set to offer vaccinations to fans at home games over the next month, Gov. Tim Walz announced on Thursday.

The Wild, Twins, Lynx and Minnesota United will administer shots as part of the "Roll Up Your Sleeves, Minnesota Fans" campaign.

“Minnesota’s sports teams know the value of teamwork, and I am grateful to partner with them as we work together to make sure every Minnesotan has the opportunity to get a COVID-19 vaccine,” Walz said. “We are always looking for creative ways to get vaccines directly to Minnesotans. This partnership is just another example of that work – and a shining example of these teams’ ongoing commitment to their fans and our communities."

Fans can get vaccines at the following games:

• Minnesota Wild vs. Vegas Golden Knights, May 22 at Xcel Energy Center
• Minnesota Twins vs. Baltimore Orioles, May 24-26 at Target Field
• Minnesota Lynx vs. Los Angeles Sparks, June 12 at Target Center
• Minnesota United vs. Austin FC, June 23 at Allianz Field

Anyone attending the game can walk up and get a vaccine for free; no identification or health insurance is required. More information will be provided for ticketholders on site.

Several Minnesota sports franchises have already joined in the effort to administer COVID-19 vaccines. The St. Paul Saints offered one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccines at their May 11 home opener, and the Minnesota Vikings have hosted state-operated mass vaccination clinics at U.S. Bank Stadium and TCO Performance Center, the team’s training facility in Eagan.

“Minnesota’s sports teams have stepped up to meet this moment and are going above and beyond in their efforts to keep Minnesotans safe in the stadium and beyond,” Walz said.
