Authorities are continuing to investigate a mass shooting at a railyard in in San Jose.
They stated a ninth person died overnight following the shooting Wednesday.
Authorities are still searching for a motive Thursday morning.
The suspected gunman, 57-year-old Samuel Cassidy, was a long-time employee at the railyard where he opened fire, killing at least nine employees before taking his own life.
Officials say they believe Cassidy set fire to his house before leaving. He was seen in surveillance video casually walking to his car the morning of the shooting.
Authorities say law enforcement responded within minutes to the shooting. Afterward, families were left searching for loved ones.
The incident marks the 232nd mass shooting in the United States so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines a mass shooting as one with four or more people injured or killed.
President Joe Biden ordered flags to fly at half-staff at the White House, saying in a statement that the U.S. must do more to stop the epidemic of gun violence in America.
