Police warn of recent robberies in Marcy-Holmes neighborhood
Police in Minneapolis are warning residents of a recent robbery pattern in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood.
Since May 18, police said there have been seven robberies reported.
Many of the robberies happened between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Oftentimes, the suspects have come in groups of two to six men in their early teens or mid-20s. Weapons have been displayed and used to harm victims, as has physical force.
According to police, many of the suspects have asked for directions, asked to use a victim’s phone or run up behind the victim before the robbery.
Police urge residents to walk in groups, be assertive with personal safety but don’t put themselves in harm’s way, and put cellphones away and be aware.
Crimes can be reported to 911 or the Minneapolis Police Tip Line at 612-692-8477.
