5-year-old who went missing dies after being found in pool in Burnsville

A 5-year-old boy has been identified after he drowned in a pool earlier this week in Burnsville.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the child as Ilyaas Said.

According to the Burnsville Police Department, officers received a report about a missing child around 5:02 p.m. on Wednesday. About 40 minutes later, someone reported a child in a pool on the 15000 block of Greenhaven Lane.

Responders to the scene found a 5-year-old boy in the pool and were able to identify him as the boy who had been reported missing. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
