MDH reports vaccine appointments for those 65 and older filled for the week

Wednesay morning, the Minnesota Department of Health reported that all of the available COVID-19 vaccine appointments for adults 65 and older have been filled for the week.

The vaccine pilot program, which was announced Monday, targets teachers and school staff, child care workers and seniors.

MDH said since noon Tuesday, an estimated 6,000 Minnesotans 65 years old and older registered for appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Almost 6,000 additional appointments have been reserved this week for educators and child care workers.

Those with appointments are set to begin to receive does of the vaccine Thursday through Saturday.

During the day Tuesday, Minnesota’s online portal and phone lines struggled to keep up with the demand for vaccine appointments after the appointments opened.
