Businesses in St. Paul’s Highland Park neighborhood are on edge after two workers were beaten and robbed at a clothing store.

It happened at Talbots on Cleveland Avenue around 5 p.m. Monday.

St. Paul police said two teens came into the store and demanded the two workers open the safe before they started attacking the workers.

Both teens ran out of the store, stealing the two employees’ purses. The suspects are still on the run.

"The attack lasted about three minutes," Steve Linders with St. Paul Police said. "There were bumps, bruises, cuts, a bloody nose, bloody mouth, a split lip, thankfully they weren’t more seriously injured. Two people come in and just not only rob them but assault them. Try to hurt them physically as well as emotionally. It’s brazen, it’s disappointing, and mostly it’s deflating, people need to know we’re working the case very hard."

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact St. Paul Police.
