Twin Cities doctor reaching out to communities of color to promote COVID-19 vaccine

A Twin Cities doctor is reaching out to communities of color to reassure them and promote the COVID-19 vaccine.

Dr. Charles Crutchfield said past events have created distrust of ‘experimental’ treatments in the Black community.

"The problem is, with African Americans, when they get COVID, they die at almost three times higher rate than non-African Americans. So it is so important to let the African American community know that it’s important to get your vaccination, it’s important for everyone to get vaccinated," Dr. Crutchfield said.

He’s hopeful that images of President Barack Obama, Surgeon General Jerome Adams and even himself getting the vaccine will inspire Black Americans to get it as well.
