MDH reports continued low flu activity, 4 hospitalizations in past week

The Minnesota Department of Health continues to report unusually low flu activity across the state but is still urging residents to take precautions, such as getting a flu shot.

In the department’s latest flu report, published Thursday, MDH said four influenza-related hospitalizations were reported last week, bringing the total number of hospitalizations in the state this flu season to 26.

The state has also reported three flu-related deaths this season, with the median age of the victims at 91.

No new school outbreaks were reported last week, and only three total have been reported so far this season. The same goes for outbreaks in long-term care facilities, with only two flu outbreaks reported in those settings this season.
