St. Paul, Minneapolis declare snow emergencies

St. Paul and Minneapolis have both declared snow emergencies Sunday after several inches of snow fell in the metro Saturday night.

In St. Paul, parking on night plow routes is off-limits starting 9 p.m. Sunday, followed by day plow routes at 8 a.m. Monday. The snow emergency lasts 96 hours, or until Thursday at 9 p.m.

Night plow routes include all of downtown and streets marked with night plow routes; streets not marked with a night plow sign should be considered day plow routes. A winter parking map is available online.

Minneapolis’ snow emergency also starts at 9 p.m. Sunday. The city’s three-day snow emergency rules are as follows:

• 9 p.m Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday: No parking is allowed on either side of a snow emergency route until 8 a.m. or the road is fully plowed.
• 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday: No parking is allowed on the even-numbered side of a non-snow emergency route until 8 p.m. or the parkway is fully plowed.
• 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday: No parking is allowed on the odd-numbered side of a non-snow emergency route until 8 p.m. or the parkway is fully plowed.

Anyone who fails to abide by snow emergency parking restrictions risk getting ticketed or towed.
