Montrose man sentenced for meth trafficking

A Montrose man was sentenced Wednesday for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 53-year-old Mark Oren Schorn was sentenced to 15 years (180 months) in prison. He previously pleaded guilty on Aug. 19.

According to court documents and Schorn’s guilty plea, he and his co-conspirators engaged in a large-scale meth trafficking operation. On April 14, his co-conspirators were stopped by law enforcement near Faribault as they traveled back from Phoenix, Arizona. While searching the vehicle, law enforcement found 23 pounds of meth in a backpack.

One of those co-conspirators, Lucas Jay Madison, was sentenced to more than 19 years (235 months) in prison last month.

Schorn’s guilty plea indicated that meth was going to be delivered to him and other co-conspirators. That same day, law enforcement executed multiple search warrants, including at Schorn’s apartment, and found more than $100,000, two digital scales and ammunition. During the search, Schorn also attempted to run from the apartment.

In addition to his prison term, Schorn was also sentenced to five years of supervised release.
