Last week, another suspect was arrested in connection with the murder. Police say 18-year-old Willie Sparkman, from Fargo, North Dakota, was taken into custody. An investigation states the shooting happened during a planned robbery, and it was determined that Abdullahi and Sparkman did not know each other.
A criminal complaint states Sparkman told investigators he and the 17-year-old needed money for rent and devised a plan to rob people to get the money. However, he said the shooting was accidental and they didn’t mean for it to happen.
Sparkman was being held in the Cass County Jail as of Wednesday. Clay County has issued a warrant for his arrest as of Friday, as the crime took place in a different county.
