Teenage girl killed in single-vehicle crash in Eagan
Authorities say a teenage girl died after she was ejected from a vehicle during a rollover crash Sunday afternoon in Eagan.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened around 4:19 p.m. at Highway 55 and Lone Oak Road. A Ford 250 was traveling westbound on Highway 55 in the left lane approaching Dodd Road when the driver lost control of the pickup and rolled into the median. There was snow and ice on the road at the time.
A passenger in the back seat was thrown from the pickup and was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as 17-year-old Angely Burgos-Salas of Minneapolis.
According to the State Patrol, the victim was not wearing a seat belt. The driver, Virginio Burgos, 57; and two other passengers, Olga Salas, 54, and Keity Burgos, 13, were all wearing seat belts and did not suffer any injuries.
Northbound traffic on Dodd Road was shut down but had reopened by 8 p.m.
The State Patrol says 217 total crashes and 49 vehicle spinouts were reported statewide Sunday from 1-9:30 p.m.. Of those crashes, 35 involved injuries, with two serious injury crashes. One other fatal crash was reported, in Winona County.
