Vehicle crash closes Highway 7 in Shorewood and Excelsior
Highway 7 is closed in the Shorewood and Excelsior area Thursday morning after a car hit a utility pole.
The crash happened just before 5 a.m. along Highway 7 and Morse Avenue. Eastbound is closed at Highway 41.
Traffic is being detoured south to Highway 5. Westbound is closed at Christmas Lake Road. Traffic is being detoured north to Excelsior Boulevard and through the city of Excelsior.
According to MnDOT, the driver was not seriously injured. According to Xcel Energy, about 1,500 hundred residents in the communities of Excelsior, Minnetonka Beach, Navarre, Orono, Shorewood, Tonka Bay, and Wayzata are impacted.
The highway is expected to remain closed until about 1 p.m.
