‘Nutcracker’ display in North Loop neighborhood wins judges’ award in national contest
A window display in the North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis has won a national contest.
Costumes from "The Nutcracker" are currently on display in the windows of MartinPatrick3 as part of a collaboration with the Minnesota Dance Theater.
The display has received the inaugural Judges’ Choice Award for the Winning Windows of North America contest.
Displays were judged on a set of three criteria: "originality and creativity," whether it "captures the spirit of the season, entertains and delights," and "professionalism, execution and technical aspects."
"Windows serve not only as a brand extension, but also as a powerful medium of connecting with consumers via ‘positive street theater’ that can delight, transport and inspire — especially during these challenging times," judge Jessie Dowd said in a statement.
Since the production of "The Nutcracker" was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the costumes are instead on display, with accompanying music from the production.
The costumes will be on display through the first week of January.
