Western Wisconsin fire chief dies after COVID-19 hospitalization
In an update late Thursday, a western Wisconsin fire department stated its fire chief had died.
Fire Chief Don Kittelson was a third-generation firefighter who served the Clayton Fire Department for 34 years.
The 55-year-old man, with no underlying health conditions, had been hospitalized with COVID-19 in early November, KSTP’s Alex Jokich reported, ultimately developing pneumonia and meningitis.

In its post, the Clayton Fire Department stated, "We lost a hero tonight. You have touched so many. Family, friends, Community and YOUR fire department brothers and sisters morn a great man. Love you CHIEF DON- you will never be forgotten. We will take it from here Brother."
