Police investigating shooting that injured 1 near state Capitol

Police in St. Paul are investigating after a man was injured in a shooting near the state Capitol late Sunday night.

According to St. Paul Police, an officer saw a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed come into a parking lot outside Regions Hospital at about 10:18 p.m. When the officer drove over to the vehicle, several people got out, including a 25-year-old man suffering from two gunshot wounds to his left leg.

The victim told the officer he was shot near Rice Street and Sherburne Avenue. When officers went to the area, they found 12 casings.

The man was treated at the hospital for his injuries, which aren’t expected to be life-threatening.

The shooting remains under investigation.
