MSHSL: Winter sports to return Jan. 14, masks required
The Minnesota State High School League says winter sports competitions may continue beginning Jan. 14.
Once high school sports return, all participants will be required to wear masks.
Exceptions have been made where a mask may be considered a safety concern, according to the MSHSL. Those sports include gymnastics, cheerleading, wrestling and swimming and diving.
Which winter sports are safest to play during COVID-19?
Practices for winter sports are set to resume on Jan. 4.
"These experiences are so important to students and they have been anxiously waiting to get these winter seasons started," MSHSL Executive Director Erich Martens said. "By implementing these safety protocols recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and required by the Minnesota Department of Health, we have the best chance to provide safe seasons with reduced interruptions and also plan for full postseason experiences."
