1 killed in St. Paul crash, investigation underway

One person has died after a crash in St. Paul early Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. on the 70 block of Sycamore Street, just east of Jackson Street.

St. Paul Police said two men were trapped inside a vehicle and had to be extricated by the St. Paul Fire Department.

The 49-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The 44-year-old driver was taken to Regions Hospital for treatment and a blood draw, as police are investigating if impairment may have played a role in the crash.
