1 dead in fatal Scott County single-vehicle crash
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office says one person has died after they were involved in a single-vehicle crash near Jordan early Friday morning.
The sheriff’s office said just before 1:20 a.m., 911 dispatch received a report of a single-vehicle crash that occurred on Marystown Road, about one-half mile north of Highway 282 in Sand Creek Township.
An initial investigation indicates that a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling southbound on Marystown Road at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway and hit a drainage ditch, causing it to flip over and start on fire.
The driver of the vehicle was noted as the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, the sheriff’s office says it has not been determined if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim,” Scott County Sheriff Luke Hennen said
An investigation of the crash is ongoing. An identification of the deceased will be released at a later time.
