2 taken into custody morning after Morrison County pursuit
Two people were arrested Friday morning after a pursuit in Morrison County the night before.
According to the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were advised by the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday to be on the lookout for a Blue Dodge Durango occupied by a man and a woman, as the man had multiple outstanding warrants and was known to frequent the area.
At 4:06 p.m., a Morrison County sergeant located the vehicle near 90th Avenue and 60th Street, just north of Elmdale. When the sergeant attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled, driving through fields before eventually getting stuck in a swamp south of 95th Street and west of Great River Road. After the vehicle got stuck, the two occupants got out and ran away.
Authorities set up a perimeter and used drones to help search the area for five hours but were unable to find the suspects.
Friday morning, at about 8:40, the sheriff’s office found two people walking along Great River Road, wrapped in blankets. When approached by deputies, the man took off running. He was quickly taken into custody along with the woman.
The sheriff’s office identified them as 26-year-old Timothy Haberman and 26-year-old Cathleen Letson, both of St. Cloud. Haberman is being held at Stearns County Jail pending formal charges. Letson was questioned.
The sheriff’s office added that it notified 256 residents and businesses to shelter in place around the suspect vehicle due to the nature of the incident via an emergency alert. The department encouraged the public to sign up for the emergency alert notifications online.
