Minnesota Correctional Facility – St. Cloud on modified lockdown due to COVID-19 cases

Minnesota Correctional Facility – St. Cloud has been placed on a modified lockdown due to COVID-19 cases, according to a Department of Corrections spokesperson.

The lockdown went into effect on Oct. 30.

As of Thursday, 335 inmates currently had COVID-19 out of 623 total inmates in the facility, according to the spokesperson. So far during the pandemic, 504 positive results have been recorded at the prison. Fifty-nine staff members are also currently out due to COVID-19.

The spokesperson said the St. Cloud facility is an intake facility for the entire system, so the department is working to slow down intake as much as possible.

To curb the spread, staff at the facility wear N95 masks, goggles, face shields and gloves.
