2 taken to hospital after shooting, crash in Minneapolis
Two people were taken to a hospital Friday after a shooting led to a crash in the St. Anthony West neighborhood of Minneapolis.
The Minneapolis Police Department’s Second Precinct said officers responded to a reported single-vehicle accident at about 5 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, officers found a Jeep had hit a tree and caught fire. Firefighters put out the flames and pulled the driver from the vehicle.
The driver and passenger were taken to a hospital.
Officers then talked with the driver and passenger at the hospital and learned a shooting had caused the crash.
The victims said they were at the Speedway located at 300 Broadway Street and, when they began to leave, a Chrysler followed them. The victims told police the passenger in the Chrysler then shot at the Jeep between Fifth Avenue Northeast and First Avenue.
Officers later found three casings in the area.
The incident remains under investigation.
