2 robberies reported overnight near U of M campus; 1 arrested
One person has been arrested after two overnight robberies near the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.
According to the University of Minnesota Public Safety Department, the first robbery happened at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday near 300 Washington Avenue Southeast.
The suspect was described as a man between 30 and 35 years of age, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, balding and wearing all black clothing. No other information was immediately available.
UMPD said that suspect was later arrested after police identified him with surveillance video and found him near campus. His identity wasn’t immediately released.
The second incident was an attempted carjacking at about 6:30 a.m. Monday near Fulton and Ontario streets southeast.
The suspect is described as a male teenager, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a thin build and wearing a black sweater. The suspect also displayed a handgun.
The incidents are currently under investigation.
