Snow lovers will enjoy this weather news: A storm moving south from Canada Friday will bring with it a few inches of accumulating snow.
Chief Morning Meteorologist Ken Barlow said snow will spread from west to east starting near Alexandria at about noon Friday and into the metro by about 4 or 5 p.m.
As a result, Barlow said the evening commute could be a bit slick, but most of the accumulating snow will fall after 6 p.m. and will continue until about 1 a.m.
A winter weather advisory is expected to be in effect from 4 p.m. Friday through 4 a.m. Saturday. The advisory includes Carver, Dakota and Scott counties, which could see 2-4 inches of snow by early Saturday morning.
Looking ahead, blustery, cold wind will move into the metro Saturday after the snowfall and temperatures will remain in the mid-20s.
