Severe thunderstorm warning expires for south metro counties

A servere thunderstorm warning was issued for a number of south metro counties Friday afternoon.

The two counties impacted include Dakota and Scott Counties, according to the National Weather Service. The warning has since expired.


A warning was issued earlier in the afternoon for Sibley, Scott, McLeod and Carver counties, however, that has since expired. 

According to NWS, the storm had the potential to produce 60 mph wind gusts and penny sized hail.

The storm was powerful enough to blow a tree over into an apartment building in Norwood Young America this afternoon.
