June 19, 2019 11:29 PM

Rain is in the forecast and it is projected to stick around.

There will be a period of sunshine Thursday morning. But more clouds will move in, followed by some showers and thunderstorms, according to KSTP Meteorologist Wren Clair.

The high in the Twin Cities will be 77 degrees. Western Minnesota will see the rainfall arrive just before 11 a.m., and the Twin Cities metro area will experience some showers starting in the early afternoon hours and late evening.

Clair says the rainfall won't bring any severe weather Thursday.

But on Friday, there could be.

Southwest Minnesota will be under a slight severe weather threat and northwest Minnesota and the metro area will face a more marginal threat, according to Clair.

The greatest chance will be later at night.
