Authorities in Wisconsin late last month filed a search warrant application across the border in Ramsey County seeking access to medical lab results concerning the alleged wrong-way driver in a head-on crash that killed a 21-year-old woman in St. Croix County on Dec. 21.

Investigators with the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office said Stefanie Biedler was hit head-on while traveling east on State Highway 35/64. She died at the scene of the crash.

The sheriff's office reported that they started to receive 911 calls minutes before the crash, reporting a wrong-way driver.

The driver of that vehicle, 31-year-old Christina Marie Wiederin was said to have been traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when the crash occurred. She had to be extricated from her vehicle and was transported by Lifelink to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

The search warrant application alleges that while talking with a deputy before she was transported, Wiederin admitted to consuming "a couple of alcoholic beverages" earlier in the evening. Additionally, "her speech was slow and wavered at times."

The deputy also reported locating a 2-liter bottle of Diet Coke, a half-empty bottle of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and an empty can of Redd's Apple Ale in her vehicle, according to the application. It goes on to allege the deputy located an empty zip-lock style bag with trace amounts of a green leafy substance, consistent with marijuana - as well as a one-hitter style pipe.

In the application, authorities seek access to the results of any blood tests that may have been taken at Regions to check for the presence of alcohol and illegal drugs in Wiederin's system.
