Travel will be tough in the east metro with weekend closures along I-94 and I-494

With a few months left in the 2019 construction season, there is still plenty of time for more weekend closures.

Interstate 94 eastbound is shutting down between Highway 280 and Interstate 35E in St. Paul this weekend as part of a resurfacing project.

Lanes will close at 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

Drivers will be detoured to Highway 280, Highway 36, and I-35E. Weather permitting, MnDOT is planning to close down the road again the weekend of September 27-30. Crews finished resurfacing the westbound lanes earlier this summer. Learn more about the project.

Meanwhile, many drivers have probably had enough of all the work that's been happening in the southeast metro. There's more: Interstate 494 will close in both directions this weekend from I-35E in Eagan to Highway 5 in Bloomington.

The work is part of a larger project to repair and resurface the pavement and a number of bridges in the area.

According to MnDOT, there will be multiple partial or full closures along I-494 between Eagan and South St. Paul, this year and next year. Learn more about the project.
