Weekend commute: Watch for lane closures north and south of the metro

Updated: October 18, 2019 06:49 PM

Drivers traveling south of the metro to check out some fall colors may want to rethink using Interstate 35 this weekend.

A concrete repair project is underway between Faribault and Elko. The roadway is down to one lane in both directions until early November. Expect the biggest delays on Friday and Sunday afternoon and evenings. Learn more about the project.

If you're heading north of the metro, you may encounter lane restrictions on I-94 between Maple Grove and Hasty. Crews are working daily, except for Saturday evenings, mainly during off-peak hours on the roadway. Drivers should prepare for slowdowns thru the work zone. The work is part of a larger project between Maple Grove and Clearwater.

In north central Minnesota, Highway 10 has reopened in both directions. The roadway had been closed in Wadena as part of a project to widen and reconstruct the highway. Crews reopened all lanes late last week. The project will resume in April of 2020. Learn more.
