September 07, 2018 05:46 AM

Crews will be busy this fall wrapping up a repaving project along Highway 62, and that means drivers are in for a series of weekend closures.

Drivers who travel in the southwest metro may have already noticed that Highway 62 eastbound closed earlier this week between I-494 and Highway 212. Crews are replacing  a pipe in the area. This weekend, the closure will extend out to Highway 100.

Only the eastbound lanes will be affected, so the westbound lanes will stay open. The shutdown begins tonight at 8 and the entire stretch will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, there will be multiple directional closures along Highway 62 thru the month of September. Learn more about the project.

Meanwhile, the Smith Avenue/High Bridge Project continues near downtown St. Paul. On Saturday, Shepard Road will close between Randolph Avenue and Eagle Parkway.

Drivers will be detoured to West 7th Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. MnDOT says the High Bridge is on track to reopen in December. Learn more about the project.
