A van slammed into a Minneapolis Dairy Queen late Monday night.

The incident happened just after 10 p.m. on the corner of 13th Avenue South and 38th Street.

An employee said he was sitting outside about five feet away from where the vehicle crashed into the building.

"All of a sudden I heard tires squealing and (the driver) lost control and ran right into the guard post and into the side of the building," Nick Gillen said.

Witnesses also said no one was in the building at the time of the crash because the restaurant had just closed. The identity and condition of the van's driver have not yet been released.
