Big headaches are expected in the southeast metro this weekend.

A repaving and bridge repair project will bring lane closures and ramp closures to Interstate 494 between I-35E in Eagan and Highway 62 (Old Highway 110) in Inver Grove Heights.

Starting at 6 p.m. Friday, the roadway will be reduced to two lanes on the westbound side. By 9 p.m., the eastbound side will be reduced to one lane. A number of ramps will close starting at 7 p.m. Friday:

  • I-35E northbound to I-494 eastbound
  • I-35E southbound to I-494 eastbound
  • Dodd Road to/from I-494 eastbound
  • Highway 3 to/from I-494 eastbound

All lanes and ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. According to MnDOT, lane and ramp closures will return to the area next weekend too.
