The release said preliminary investigation indicates a Honda Odyssey van with Xiong at the wheel was northbound on Highway 63 at a high rate of speed when the van failed to stop at a stop sign, went through an intersection and left the road.

First responders pronounced Xiong dead at the scene. A passenger, 29-year-old Kai Xiong of St. Paul, was flown from the scene to the Twin Cities metro area to seek medical treatment for injuries he sustained in the crash.
