A Hennepin County jury has found a Savage man guilty in connection to a car crash that killed a 28-year-old man, according to a release from the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

The release said Christopher Michael Wendt was convicted Thursday of criminal vehicular homicide. Wendt is expected to be sentenced on Dec. 20.

Wendt was charged in connection to the crash that killed Travis John Krautkremer.

According to a criminal complaint, authorities were called on July 12 to the report of a collision at Interstate 494 and Highway 169. When authorities arrived, they located a pickup truck that had flipped on its roof and a Chevy Camaro that suffered significant damage.

The complaint said the driver of the Camaro was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the complaint, Wendt said he was southbound on Highway 169 when he realized he drifted into the shoulder. He said he did not see the Camaro in time to react.

Wendt denied being on any medications, but officers noticed several signs of impairment, the complaint said. A blood sample from Wendt later tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, according to the complaint.
