The Minnesota Department of Transportation says Interstate 94 East will be closed at the I-94/494/694 interchange in Woodbury this weekend.

The I-694 South ramp to I-94 East, as well as the I-94 East ramp to I-694 North, will also be closed. The closure is expected to begin at 8 p.m. Friday. The stretch of I-94 East is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.

A release said motorists will be directed to follow a detour using I-494 South to the Tamarack exit, then back on to I-494 North.

In addition, at 7 p.m. Friday, both directions of Tamarack Road between Weir Drive and Bielenberg Drive and the I-494 Tamarack Interchange will be closed and detoured to the Valley Creek Road Interchange to accommodate the I-94 East detour. That road is also expected to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.

Meanwhile, I-694 will be closed this weekend between Victoria and Rice Streets as crews remove the west side of the Rice Street bridge over the freeway.

A release from Ramsey County said the closure will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and includes both the westbound and eastbound lanes of the freeway. The road is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

The release said Rice Street will remain open to traffic, though flaggers may stop traffic for short periods.

Drivers on I-694 East will be directed to follow the posted detour of I-35W South to Highway 36 East to I-35E North, then back to I-694. Drivers on I-694 West will be detoured to I-35E South to Highway 36 West to I-35W North, then back to I-694.
