The Chisago County Sheriff's Office shared dash cam video of the chase of a motorcyclist who traveled at 100 mph before his fatal crash.
Authorities have identified the driver as 34-year-old Jason Gene Lindman of Cambridge. He was airlifted from the scene near North Branch early Saturday morning.
He died at Regions Hospital from injuries.
The release states the sergeant attempted to stop the motorcyclist for excessive speeding around 3:15 a.m. Saturday. The motorcycle is alleged to have been traveling north on Forest Boulevard at speeds estimated at more than 100 miles per hour.
But, according to the release, the motorcycle failed to stop, and the sergeant initiated a pursuit northbound on Golden Avenue. Shortly after turning onto Golden Avenue, however, the release states the motorcycle left the roadway and hit the driveway approach.
The entire pursuit was around a half-mile in length. The release states Lindman was wearing a helmet during the incident.
