As warm weather moves into Minnesota, construction season comes along with it.
One of the major projects that will be going on this season is in Minneapolis at Interstate 35W and Interstate 94.
This summer, drivers will still be able to head east to St. Paul on I-94 coming off of I-35W, but those trying to get in and out of downtown from that interchange will run into a few issues.
"There are going to be a lot of closures this summer," MnDOT's Public Affairs Coordinator Dave Aeikens said. "More than usual."
The 11th Street ramp off I-35W, the 12th Street ramp onto I-35W and the 14th Street ramp to I-94 will close in June.
And when drivers do make it downtown, they should be prepared for congestion.
"We're going to be striping a lane for buses only during rush hour," Aeikens said.
"We're going to have the number of lanes down from ten to five," he added. "A lot of times we have to close lanes to keep the workers safe."
The I-35W project isn't scheduled for completion until the fall of 2021.
