A pregnant woman was killed in a crash near St. Cloud Monday morning.
According to the Stearn's County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened at the intersection of County Road 4 and County Road 133 in LeSauk Township at 7:48 a.m.
Police identified Corey William Planck, 46, of Star City, Indiana as the driver of the 2000 Kenworth semi involved in the crash. He was northeast on County Road 133 towards the city of Sartell.
Authorities said 30-year-old Casey Rose Myers was driving a 2018 Subaru Forester, heading southeast towards the city of St. Cloud on County Road 4.
Myers stopped at the stop sign for traffic and began to proceed through the intersection. Planck failed to stop at the intersection and struck the Forester on the passenger side. Planck told investigating deputies he did not see the stop sign. The intersection is a four-way stop design.
More from KSTP:
It was reported Myers was unconscious and not responding. Police say she was also "several months" pregnant. She was treated at the scene by first responders and medics from Gold Cross Ambulance and transported to St. Cloud Hospital.
Neither Myers nor her five-month-old fetus survived the injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the semi was not injured, according to police.
The Minnesota State Patrol responded to assist with crash reconstruction and commercial vehicle inspection regarding the semi-tractor trailer.
Myers and her husband Matt, and their two-year-old son Tyson attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Opole, Minn. Myers' funeral will be held at the church on Friday. Father Gene Doyle says Myers will be missed by many.
"Very bubbly, very joyful, happy. She had a very pleasant smile on her face," Father Doyle said. "You can tell she and Matt were very much connected. They loved each other very much. They are very proud of their little boy."
The crash remains under investigation by the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family.
