Police investigating fatal hit-and-run in Inver Grove Heights

An investigation is underway after a hit-and-run ended fatally for a pedestrian in Inver Grove Heights Saturday.

According to a release sent out by the Inver Grove Heights Police Department, authorities are investigating a hit-and-run collision in which a vehicle struck a 55-year-old woman on 80th Street, east of Blaine Avenue. Investigators are seeking the public's help in identifying the driver of the vehicle.

The release states at approximately 5:52 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a passer-by who found the victim. Resuscitation efforts were performed by police, fire and Health East medical personnel, but were unsuccessful. 

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting with the reconstruction of the collision. There is no vehicle description that the suspect was driving at this time.

Police are asking for anyone who was driving east or westbound on 80th Street around the time listed above or anyone with information regarding the incident to call the Inver Grove Heights Police Department tip line at (651) 450-2530.
