Authorities were at the scene of a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in St. Paul Thursday.

According to the St. Paul Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of John Ireland and Kellogg boulevards at about 6 a.m. When they arrived, they found an adult male lying in the intersection. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The area was closed while investigators gathered information at the scene.

Police said the vehicle involved was eastbound on Kellogg when the pedestrian was struck. The department said the driver is cooperating with investigation and early indications are that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the incident.

The case is still under investigation.
