MnDOT: Portion of northbound I-35 near Owatonna now open after crash involving 6 semis, 20 cars

A portion of northbound I-35 near Owatonna was temporarily closed Thursday due to a crash, according to MnDOT.

The crash occurred between U.S. Highway 14 and Bridge Street. The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash involves 20 passenger cars and six jackknifed semis. 


The road is now open for traffic. 

No serious injures have been reported, only minor, according to the state patrol. 

A number of crashes were reported throughout the state as snow continued to fall Thursday morning. According to the state patrol, there were a total of 146 crashes and 106 vehicle spinouts. Eighteen injuries were reported but none were serious nor fatal. 

As of 4:40 p.m., the state patrol reports from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 155 crashes occured statewide. Fifteen injuires were noted but none were serious or fatal. The state patrol also noted 93 vehicle spin outs/went off the road and seven semis jackknifed.
