The Minnesota State Patrol was investigating two deadly crashes that occurred south of the metro late Thursday night.

According to the state patrol, a pickup truck rolled into a ditch on County Road 50 just north of Cannon Falls at about 11 p.m.

Officials said 49-year-old Terri Stephenson, of Hampton, was a passenger in the pickup and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the rollover crash. Stephenson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, identified as 53-year-old Michael Serres, reportedly had minor injuries.

Officials with the state patrol said they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Meanwhile, around the same time, the state patrol reported another rollover crash occurred 20 miles south in Warsaw Township.

Authorities said 58-year-old Scott Friedrich lost control of his vehicle on an icy Highway 56 and rolled into a ditch.

Friedrich was not wearing his seatbelt, authorities said.

Both crashes are under investigation.
