A follow-up tweet later Tuesday said the state patrol continued to respond to crashes across the state as a result of the weather, a number of them being rollovers. The tweet asked motorists to allow themselves extra time to reach their destinations on icy and snowy roads.

The snow in the Twin Cities metro area was expected to taper by Tuesday afternoon.

The state patrol also tweeted that another state patrol squad car was hit late Tuesday morning, though the trooper was OK. The tweet said that made 10 squad cars that have been hit since Feb. 1.

Another tweet said state patrol dispatchers answered 20,337 calls statewide between midnight on Feb. 4 and midnight Sunday - an average of 121 calls per hour for the week.
